Until I received the Power of Pentecost at age 26, I was a fairly weak Christian. Though I went to Church on Sunday and believed in the authenticity of the Bible, I rarely read it personally. We have some good Bible teachers in many of our Churches today.

At the University of Florida Sorority House, I don’t remember seeing anyone reading the Bible or talking about the Scriptures. When I graduated from U. of F. in 1958 and taught School, I did read to my class: Psalm 23, and Matthew 6:9-13 The Lord’s Prayer. At least it was not against the Law to read the Bible in Public School back then.

Until my friend, Gayle Miller, died of a cerebral hemorrhage, I had continued at this level. She had witnessed to me about how the Pentecost Empowerment had changed her life. She also had a Holy Spirit Prayer Language that she said, “Strengthened her Christian life.”  As we were soaking up the Florida sun at the beach that day, “I remember responding with, “I wish I could do that.”

A few weeks after her Commitment Service, her friend Bertha Madden phoned to invite me to her interdenominational Home Prayer Meeting.  The retired minister, Rev. Father Sherwood was there. Since he was an Episcopal minister, I felt comfortable when he prayed for me. At that moment I too began to praise God “in the Spirit” beyond my physical mind. That night my life was changed forever. After my empowerment, I began to experience miracles.  The 35 or so people there believed that God had called me into Christian Ministry.

A couple of years later, I met The Rev. Dennis Bennett, then widower, at a Full Gospel Businessmen’s Conference in Miami, Florida. A year or so later in 1966, Dennis and I were married. During our 25-year marriage, we traveled to ten Nations in Spirit-filled ministry together. We both became Christian authors, writing life-changing books.

Yes, I believe in the value of the blessing that came to the early Church in the Upper Room in Israel. That day 2,000 years ago, began the world wide Empowerment of the Church today. It has never ceased and is still available to every follower of Jesus Christ.

You can hear testimonies of other Charismatic believers this July 27, 2017, at Noon in The Embassy Suites Hotel, Lynnwood, WA.

Why do we need this power of God today?

I have never seen as many riots in the USA as I have in 2015 through 2017. That’s why we need God’s power today in 2017 more than ever.  Acts 2:1 says, “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come: they were all with one accord in one place.”  God can work in wondrous ways when His people are at peace and unity with one another. Let us pray for that to happen in our Power of Pentecost Day, July 27, 2017. I hope to see you there.
